Models & Simulations

Our group is strongly involved in the development of atmospheric and interior models for exoplanets that help us interpret observational data. Certain models will also be used to better understand what performance from future instruments and missions will be required in order to be able to make specific measurements and inference of planetary properties. Furthermore, in the context of assessing which exoplanets might be habitable (or even inhabited) it will be crucial to create and continuously improve corresponding statistical frameworks. These frameworks need to consider, on the one hand, the multi-disciplinary nature of “habitability” and “life”, but on the other hand also the astrophysical measurements and related uncertainties that we hope to carry out in the future.
