High contrast Imaging Research and Development
SNF Ambizione Fellow Dr. Jonas Kuehn is exploring diffraction suppression utilizing spatial light modulators (SLMs) as dynamically-addressable focal-plane phase coronagraphs in tandem with various pupil filters. He is also pursuing interferometric means (for example using rejected coherent starlight from a focal plane coronagraph) to distinguish coherent speckles and incoherent point sources in the focal plane. He is also a member of the ERIS/VLT and METIS/ELT teams and collaborates with colleagues at external pageJPLcall_made, external pageCaltechcall_made and the SCExAO team of the external pageSubaru Telescopecall_made. More information about his research can be found on his website.
