High contrast Imaging Research and Development
SNF Ambizione Fellow Dr. Jonas Kuehn is exploring diffraction suppression utilizing spatial light modulators (SLMs) as dynamically-addressable focal-plane phase coronagraphs in tandem with various pupil filters. He is also pursuing interferometric means (for example using rejected coherent starlight from a focal plane coronagraph) to distinguish coherent speckles and incoherent point sources in the focal plane. He is also a member of the ERIS/VLT and METIS/ELT teams and collaborates with colleagues at external page JPL, external page Caltech and the SCExAO team of the external page Subaru Telescope. More information about his research can be found on his website.
