Welcome Emily

It’s a great pleasure to welcome Emily Garvin to our research group as a new doctoral student!

by Caroline Keufer-Platz

Emily recently finished her Master Thesis entitled "A Machine Learning Approach to Molecular Mapping for Detection of H2O in Atmospheres of Exoplanets”. This thesis was part of her Master’s Programme in Statistics in D-MATH at ETH, but Emily also holds a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Geneva.

Her official start day is April 1 and she will support our efforts to develop and apply new methods and tools to maximize the scientific return of the ERIS instrument for the characterization of directly detected (gas giant) exoplanet atmospheres.

Please join us in welcoming Emily and make sure to reach out to her for introductory 1-on-1 meetings.
For the time being you can reach her via but very soon her D-PHYS email address should also be working.
